输电线乘载电流的磁场时，便会辐射电磁波，其辐射能力和输电线长短和外形相关。若两输电线之间的距离非常近，静电场被束缚在两输电线中间，因此辐射很薄弱；将两输电线伸开，静电场就散布在周围室内空间，因此辐射提高。当输电线长度远远小于辐射电磁波的光波长，辐射很薄弱；当输电线长度能与辐射的电磁波光波长相比较时，输电线里的电流量就大大增加，产生很强的辐射。一般将以上能够产生明显辐射的直导线称之为振子，振子便是一个简单的专业RFID天线。
