The Zebra RFD90 ultra-rugged UHFRFID back clip is built for tough environments, withstanding drops from 6 feet (1.8 meters) to concrete floors, and is available in both IP65 and IP67 industrial-grade packages. Both the standard-range RFD9030 back clip and long-range RFD9090 back clip feature a read rate of 1,300 tags per second, a very accurate item find mode, a three-function user-programmable trigger, and Wi-Fi6 capability for easy device management. The interchangeable eConnex™ adapter and charging cradle are compatible with rugged Zebra mobile data terminals, and BluetoothTM 5.3 connectivity is integrated to support connectivity with third-party smartphones.

With a read rate of 1,300 tags per second, the RFD90 back clip enables fast inventory counts and improved workflow accuracy. 22 feet (6.7 meters) is the standard read distance for the RFD9030 back clip, while the RFD9090 back clip has a longer read distance of 75 feet (22.9 meters). Very accurate item finding mode can help employees to easily and quickly locate critical items. With a three-function user-programmable trigger function, RFID reading, barcode scanning and other functions can be easily implemented to adapt to the needs of your workflow. The RFD90 back clip is compatible with virtually every mobile device. the ZebraeConnex™ adapter helps you easily connect to a wide range of Zebra rugged mobile data terminals, while the OtterBoxuniVERSE adapter supports a wide range of third-party smartphones. The integrated BluetoothTM 5.3 wireless capability allows connection to virtually any Android™, iOS or Windows device. NFC instant connect, camera pairing and Scan-To-Connect options make pairing devices easy.

Remote Management

Built-in Wi-Fi6 makes it easy to manage devices over-the-air (OTA) even when the back clip is not connected to a mobile data terminal or smartphone. Batch deployment of firmware and configuration upgrades optimize performance and support new device features without individual configuration of each back clip.

Flexible and future-proof charging solutions

The RFD90 back clip charging solution gives users the flexibility to power their back clips and mobile data terminals in a variety of ways. Each holder is equipped with two sets of charging pins, allowing you to charge the RFD90 back clip and mobile data terminal individually, or a combination of RFD90 back clip and mobile data terminal connected together. The universal holder, which can charge back clips, is configured with a USB-A jack to plug in a charging cable for third-party devices.

Operates in wired mode

The RFD90 back clip can be connected to a Windows PC or other host computer via the cradle, transforming the RFD90 into a wired RFID reader.

Advanced development and support tools

Quickly transition to Zebra's new generation of products without having to rewrite the main application. the RFD90 back clip's software development kit (SDK) is based on the current ZebraRFID handheld SDK. you can simply recompile your current application with the new SDK to get up and running on the new RFD90 back clip.

123RFID

Use 123RFID Mobile and 123RFID Desktop to configure the RFD90 backclips online and offline after connecting via the cradle or Bluetooth. Use 123RFID Desktop Edition for proof of concept, demonstrations, and to perform firmware upgrades.

Interchangeable Holders

When you're ready to upgrade, Zebra's new cradle makes it easy to swap out your mobile data terminal. Simply use the coin knob to perform the modification without tools or plugging in or unplugging various harnesses, allowing for simplified user operation and ultimately an enhanced experience.

New bracket solution

The bracket supporting the RFD90 back clip is available in single-slot and multi-slot sizes, as well as in rechargeable and communicatable versions only. The single-slot communication model bracket has a Micro-USB port for connection to a host PC, and the multi-slot communication model bracket has an Ethernet port for connection to an enterprise network. This connectivity allows you to manage the RFD90 back clip in the cradle, and also supports setting configurations, pushing firmware updates, and monitoring the device's operational status. As a result, you can more easily get more information about your device.
